The simplicity lets you start making interesting decisions right away without worrying about much upkeep.
Heat: Pedal To The Metal, is just a bit too complicated and fiddly for the group I play with. Flamme Rouge is much easier to teach and get going, with only a few reminders about slipstreaming and mountains.
I haven't found the perfect strategy yet and almost never win but, it's still a great time as everyone waits to see who breaks away from the pack first.
