Bohnanza
is the first in the Bohnanza family of games and has been published in several different editions.

As card games go, this one is quite revolutionary. Perhaps its oddest feature is that you cannot rearrange your hand, as you need to play the cards in the order that you draw them. The cards are colorful depictions of beans in various descriptive poses, and the object is to make coins by planting fields (sets) of these beans and then harvesting them. To help players match their cards up, the game features extensive trading and deal making.

The original German edition supports 3-5 players.

The newest English version is from Rio Grande Games and it comes with the first edition of the first German expansion included in a slightly oversized box. One difference in the contents, however, is that bean #22's Weinbrandbohne (Brandy Bean) was replaced by the Wachsbohne, or Wax Bean. This edition includes rules for up to seven players, like theErweiterungs-Set, but also adapts the two-player rules of Al Cabohne in order to allow two people to play Bohnanza.

Note: As mentioned above, the Rio Grande Games edition supports more players than the Amigo release, and also sports two-player rules. You should keep that in mind when perusing the ratings.

Great game

I feel like I know a lot of people that own this one, and it is worth it. Cheap and has a lot of good things to love about it. I especially love how social it is, keeping everyone engaged on other people's turns

Don't let the box/art fool you. This one is great!

I was not impressed with the art in this game but the gameplay is amazing. It's hand-management and set-collection like I've never played before. It deserves a reprint with a different theme...

Excellent

Scales extremely well from 2 - 5 and an excellent entry level game for new folks to the 'not monopoly' genre. Highly replayable, we're on our second copy because we wore the first one out.

Great and Simple Game

One of the first card games I have enjoyed. It is fun trying to arrange trades with other players. This game is only fun with lots of players

One of the first games we ever bought

Pros: Easy to understand
Hand management is clever and original
Art is excellent
A lot of game in a small package

Cons: Games can take a long time
If people aren't in the mood to trade, you're depending on luck to be able to fill your orders, making it less of a game

How does it play with 2? It's a bit awkward with 2, but not terrible. We enjoyed every time we played Bohnanza, but mainly with 3+ players.
