Additional Info BoardGameGeek (Images, Videos, Reviews)

In Le Havre, a player’s turn consists of two parts: First, distribute newly supplied goods onto the offer spaces; then take an action. As an action, players may choose either to take all goods of one type from an offer space or to use one of the available buildings. Building actions allow players to upgrade goods, sell them or use them to build their own buildings and ships. Buildings are both an investment opportunity and a revenue stream, as players must pay an entry fee to use buildings that they do not own. Ships, on the other hand, are primarily used to provide the food that is needed to feed the workers.

After every seven turns, the round ends: players’ cattle and grain may multiply through a Harvest, and players must feed their workers. After a fixed number of rounds, each player may carry out one final action, and then the game ends. Players add the value of their buildings and ships to their cash reserves. The player who has amassed the largest fortune is the winner.

One of the Best

Game is great with 2 players and 3 as well. There is lots of tactics with both player counts. The game may look overwhelming at first due to so many pieces all around but its a simple game. There is only one worker each player has and what you do with it, where you place it is up to you. This game has so many choices and all of them are great. When you think the other player(s) has blocked you in a spot, no worries, because there is somewhere else you can go and its just as exciting.

The game might look outdated on the table but the gameplay is stellar. The expansion included also ads more cards without increasing the difficulty.

Oh, and buy some small containers from a dollar store to store the supplies and keep everything easy to setup and organized during the game.

Its a gem of a game and one that beats many newer games these days. Dont let it pass by, you wont regret it.

with folded space

the game itself is great, but works best with three players. with less it's too competitive and with more it ends before anyone can really get anywhere with a plan. all the added buildings from the add ons are a bit much but with some random sorting and removal of excess cards a really good balance of buildings can be made. I was in a rush when I saw the folded space insert, thinking it was a futuristic expansion, but as a components holder it was fun to assemble and fits everything perfectly so setting the game up only involves counting out the cards for the number of players. getting into playing is way faster and everything stays neat ant tidy on the board. one thing I made myself was a rack holding 3 rows of cards for the building cards to keep them from sliding around and mixing up. the game and folded space insert together make a great pair and are easy to carry to gaming night while keeping everything from mixing up in the box. it is a great game to play with a vast amount of replay ability because every time you get different building choices when building your port empire.

Simple rules, deep game.

Simple rules & simple turns that all add up to deep, thinky gameplay, which makes this an elegant stand-out. Its look is a little plain, but it's a classic for good reason.
