Welcome to Alula, a mysterious continent with ever-changing geography, shaped after the rhythm of the seasons. Beyond the Sea of Mists lies the mysterious continent of Alula. Roam across the land in search of its secrets, meet its inhabitants and list its wonders in order to gain more fame than your opponents.

Throughout a game of Faraway, you will play a row of 8 cards in front of you, from left to right. These cards represent the regions you will come across while exploring the lands. Characters on these cards will grant you victory points if you later fulfil the conditions they demand. At the end of the game, you walk back the same way, scoring cards in the opposite order you played them. There lies the heart of the gameplay. Throughout the game, the cards you play will serve both to set new objectives, and to meet the ones you played previously.

Each turn, you play a card from a hand of 3. Then you pick a new card from a face-up river. As play is simultaneous in Faraway, you must take into account a clever priority system in all of your choices – being last to pick a card leaves you with fewer options and often less profitable choices for the next turns.

Faraway hits home

Love this one its fast and thinky and the reverse scoring mechanic is refreshingly fun. Big love for this small game.

Excellent Filler Game

A fast-paced, clever game! Quick and snappy with two players, and the tension only builds with more players. A must-try for anyone who loves strategic excitement!

Plays quick, very few turns = big decisions each time

Game only plays in 8 cards, so your success is decided with 8 decisions (basically). Select the best combo of cards to score you the most amount of points.

The most interesting factor is that there are 2 overall extreme methods to follow:
1) Start small and play ascending cards (netting you lots of bonus cards), but miss out on resources needed to score big cards.
2) Starting with big cards and work downward, which sets you up with all the resources needed to score the big cards, but never access any bonus cards.

Often times you will find yourself playing the middle ground of the two: ascending and descending to the last card. This is where the game is most interesting.

The catch is that you're always choosing 1 card from 3 each turn, and that means 2 things:
1) You don't have all the choices in the world for analysis paralysis to be a major problem.
2) This game is quite luck-driven. You are quite dependent on certain cards to arrive at certain times, and the cards you need for early-game, mid-game and late-game don't come to you, then there's not much you can do turn things around.

Artwork is colourful and symbology is easy to read. It's language independent, but it's still a filler game at best.
