Description

Constructible cardboard tiles for Cities and unique buildings, with Oceans and Greeneries to match.

Upgrade your copy of Terraforming mars with these constructible cardboard tiles. This set includes both 3D constructible tiles and flat tiles for consistent quality and graphics.

Features:

  • Full bleed art on every tile.
  • Unique shapes and graphics differentiate Cities, Greeneries, Oceans, and every specialty tile.
  • Ocean and Greenery tile graphics are cut from two seamless satellite images, allowing for unique, subtly different art on every tile.
  • Alternate art on bases of Cities and some speciality tiles allows for a more detailed or more abstracted look.
  • Greeneries can be flipped to show a spot for your cube, or unobstructed image.
  • Oceans can be flipped to show a satellite graphic or an abstract aquatic texture.
  • Precisely measured slots in each constructible tile to seat cubes firmly (but not too firmly).
  • Quick and easy to construct.
  • Pieces fit together snuggly. No need to disassemble/reassemble for every game.

      Creative tiles but with issues

I love the crafty idea of these and the glossy printing on the tiles is nice.

OTOH, there are a few issues:

      • The laser cutting results in an ashy residue around the edge of all the tiles when punched out, so if you don’t want black soot everywhere, you’ll have to spend time wiping the edges of every single piece after punching them

      • Once you figure out which piece goes with what. for the pop-up tiles, you’re not going to want to disassemble them to put back into the box neatly—which leaves the question, “where/how do you store these?” They’re too fragile to throw into the game box without some barrier from all the other components, but assembled, the tiles take up a lot of volume. So now, you’ll have to find a separate box to keep them intact. If you’re like me, you’d rather have fewer boxes than more, ideally all accessories and expansions to fit in the base box. That won’t work with these.

I do love the abstracted quality of the tiles, but knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t have bothered to get these.
